Award winning illustrator Kathleen Kemly has wanted to illustrate children's books since she was in third grade. She grew up in Michigan and studied illustration at Parsons School of Design in New York.
Kathleen does illustrations for children's books, magazines and posters using pastel or oil paints. She has exhibited her pastel paintings in Seattle.
Kathleen has worked with children as an artist in residence for middle school students. She enjoys visiting schools and talking to children about illustration and creating characters.
Ms. Kemly is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and a recipient of the Seattle Arts Council Arts in Education Grant. Kathleen was named October 2012 Illustrator of the Month at Highlights for Children Magazine.
Kathleen now lives in Seattle with her husband and two grown sons. They like to hike in the mountains, ski and be outside as much as possible.
Her beloved menagerie of pets includes a sweet dog,
a fat tabby cat and a lovely flock of chickens.
